July Offering

Get out in nature

This is the perfect time to go wild swimming - the water is warm and there are many health benefits associated with open water swimming. Go to Wild Swimming to get the low-down on all the info you need.

If that's not for you, simply stop and listen to the sounds of nature. Watch the bees dancing on the roses and savour the inhale of summeriness.

Nature Mandala

We invite you this month to connect with the abundance of summer in full bloom by creating a Nature Mandala.

The word mandala is a Sanskrit term that means “circle”. A mandala is a circular structure with a design that radiates out symmetrically from a unifying centre. It is one of nature’s most perfect configurations.

You can see mandala patterns in natural objects from the radiating petals of a flower to tree rings, spiderwebs, seashells, crystals and more. And while they are beautiful, there is a deeper meaning in the mandala. The mandala’s pattern can be interpreted as a model for the organisational structure of life, a type of cosmic diagram. It is both the microcosm and the macrocosm, and we are all part of its intricate design.

In nature art we remember that not everything we value has to be material. Not everything we create has to be perfect. We connect with the impermanence of life The process of making art is fulfilling enough to be the focus at times. The mandala is more than an image seen with our eyes. It is an actual moment in time – an experience to savour.

Gather leaves, flowers, sticks, shells, petals - whatever you find around, and have fun creating your mandala.

It's great to do with the kids too! Enjoy!

Liz and Susanna's Summer read

We both love a spot of open water swimming, an now's a lovely time to take a dip as the water has warmed and the sun is out.

Wild swimming changes lives. The thrill of plunging - or dipping a toe - into open water brings joy, confidence, adventure and friendship. It can wash away stress and sadness, pain and grief. Here water is a great healer, a place to feel gloriously, elementally alive and in touch with yourself, with others and with nature.

Full of life-affirming personal stories and breath-taking images of scenery and swimmers, Taking the Plunge celebrates the remarkable wild swimming community. Now you too can immerse yourself in its energy, courage and irresistible joie de vivre!

With practical advice on how wild swimming works and how to get started - from what you'll need (cossie and a smile!) to where best to go (rivers, oceans, lochs, lakes . . .) - there's never been a better time to take the plunge.

With love,

Liz & Susanna
